Maxine Thompson, a loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister, peacefully went to be with our Lord on December 5, 2024. Maxine was born September 16, 1934, in Braggadocio, Missouri. Her loving husband of 70 years, James (Jim) Daniel Thompson, preceded her in death.
Their love story began when Maxine was 17 years old, and Jim asked her father for her hand in marriage before he deployed with the Air Force to England. Her father denied Jim’s request to marry Maxine stating not until she’s 18 and graduates from High School. After graduation, Maxine, who had never traveled, began her journey on the Queen Marry to meet Jim in England and marry him in 1953. While stationed in England, their 70-year love story blessed them with two sons, James Jr. and Kenneth.
Maxine was also preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Alberta Henthorn, and her sisters, Wilma Ward and Marlene Jenkins. She is survived by her sons James Jr. and Kenneth and his wife Lesha, three grandchildren, Lauren, Morgan, and Bryce, two great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends.
She will be missed dearly, but family and friends rejoice in knowing she is now in her heavenly home and free of ailments.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 15th, 2024 at 11:00 am at Memorial Park Funeral Home’s Historic Cemetery Chapel, located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
