Mary Ann Guinn was born May 23, 1954 in Oklahoma City, one of seven children born to Euel Austin and Irene Mae Guinn.
Mary graduated Capitol Hill High School and went on to receive her Associate’s Degree to be a Travel Agent from Oklahoma City Community College. For a short time, Mary served her country in the U.S. Army from 1974-75 and was honorably discharged.
Mary was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma City but loved traveling with her family. She was the catalyst for many spontaneous road trips. Her favorite thing to do on a road trip was family singalongs. She would burst out with infectious singing and inevitably the whole car would join in. She was often seen smiling and knew how to have fun, always laughing, telling funny stories and jokes. Mary will be remembered for being an extremely devoted wife and mother. She raised five children and helped with the grandchildren. She would often tell Larry they should have had more when their children did or said something out of character. She would smile, ask her children “Don’t you wish you had five more?” when grandkids would act out. Mary was known for her generous heart by family, friends and even strangers. She would talk with anyone and make instant friends. She loved to shop at thrift stores and garage sales and find unique treasures. She would come home so proud of her finds and inevitably give them away to whomever she felt was worthy. Sometimes that was friends and family, but she has also given plenty away to strangers.
Mary enjoyed being a homemaker and prided herself in knowing how to sew, make quilts, and embroider. She also enjoyed baking and making candy. Her children have fond memories of various arts and crafts projects that made the house messy. But she never complained. She enjoyed creating activities and seeing happy children. She also enjoyed reading and a good crossword puzzle. Sometimes she would have Larry fill in the puzzle while she was shouting out the answers. Mary was known by family and friends as the information super-computer before computers were in every household. She did a lot of research on family history and spent hours on the phone. There was no problem she couldn’t solve with a hard-wired telephone and a pen and paper. She would call God himself to accomplish the goal if necessary. Her tenacity, quick wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Mary married Larry Dean White on April 14, 1980 and they were married almost 42 wonderful years before his passing January 26, 2022.
She is also preceded in death by her parents, Euel and Irene Guinn and sister Betty Davis.
Mary leaves to carry on her legacy of love to her children: Daniel Remington and wife Kindle Remington of Goldsby, OK, Larry White and Jennifer White of Maine, Dana Ruimveld and husband Bradley Ruimveld of Yukon, OK, Matthew White of Newcastle, OK, Paul White and wife Jennifer White of Moore, OK; siblings Ronny Guinn of Choctaw, OK, Billy Guinn of Choctaw, OK, Linda Gregory of Florida, Laura Guinn, Janice Ashlock of Cabot, AR; and her precious grandchildren Caleb and Robyn White, Austin and Ashton Remington, Candace and Gavin Ruimveld, Hannah and Emily Alley, Benjamin and Isabella White.
