Mary Ella Weed was born January 15, 1936 in Amarillo, Texas to John Bunyan and Ella Mae Shepherd along with her brother John moving to Oklahoma City in her early childhood. Mary graduated from Classen High School and attended one year of college before marrying the love of her life Charles Weed in April of 1956. Mary was a HUGE OU fan! She loved her Sooners and attended many games over the years and recently would watch the football, basketball, and softball games religiously. She also enjoyed reading her Bible and other Christian books, watching tennis, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary became a believer in Jesus Christ later in life and it was a life changing turning point for her and ultimately her family, friends, and even strangers whom she came in contact. She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church for her entire life as her parents were part of the initial leadership team that established the church in OKC. She served in many capacities at MBC, was involved in Bible Study Fellowship, Jail Ministry, and was an active Gideon alongside her husband until his passing in 2018.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brother John, her husband Charles, grandson David, and precious daughter Kelly Lynn. She is survived by her children Jeff and wife Julia, Scott and wife Bobbi, Jill and husband Joey; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
