Mary Bee Clark, 61, passed away peacefully at home on January 20, 2015. She was born September 30, 1953, in Enid to Bill and Bee Musser. She graduated from Enid High School and then from the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of the President’s Leadership Class.
While at OU she met her future husband, Mel Clark, and they were married in an eventful wedding in Enid on June 6, 1975. A tornado hit Enid, the church lost electrical power and flooded, but a beautiful candlelit wedding ensued followed by a wonderful marriage of 39 years.
Mary Bee loved life and loved her family. She adored her daughter Emily and her grandchildren Mason and Lucy Bee and was so proud of her son-in-law, Josh Payne. She loved travel and traveled the world with Mel. She loved beautiful things and she and her dear friend Nora Medley and Barbara Covington, for years, traveled to France to buy antiques for their shop (Covington Antiques).
Mary Bee was blessed with many friends. Her wonderful friend Jana Zahn cared for, loved and comforted her for hours and hours and Nora Medley, Beth Hall and Cheryl Spence showered her with love as did many other friends, too numerous to mention.
Being diagnosed with cancer two years ago was a shock, but it never defeated her: She published and illustrated three books since her diagnosis; with all proceeds going to charity. Two of the books were children’s books dedicated to her grandson, Mason. Her last book was “Sending You Love,” a series of watercolors of beautiful angels each accompanied by a quote one of which was from Saint Francis de Sales and reads: “Make yourself familiar with the angels for without being seen they are present with you.” Mary Bee believed this to be true, through the power of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Estelle Bee Musser and her brother Jim Musser. Mary Bee is survived by her husband Dr. Mel Clark; daughter Emily Bee Payne; grandchildren Mason and Lucy Bee Payne and son-in-law Dr. Josh Payne.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Integris Foundation https://my.integrisgiving.org/giving
