Mary Ann Littrell peacefully went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2021. Mary Ann was born in Omaha, Nebraska on June 16, 1942. The daughter of Bernard and Mary Clare (Fennell) Vacek, Mary Ann had eleven brothers and sisters. Mary Ann graduated from South Omaha High School where she had many friends.
What started with a date switch-a-roo and through fate, Mary Ann married Cecil F. Littrell, Sr. in Omaha on April 8, 1961. The journey of their life lead them through many states including Nebraska, Kansas, Illinois, and finally Oklahoma. Their marriage was filled with much laughter, joy and love, along with trials and health obstacles. Family played a big part in their marriage and was always important. Though all of this, they were lifelong companions and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in April.
Mary Ann worked at Black Hawk College in Moline, Illinois where she was an Intake Reception Specialist for 40 years before her much deserved retirement. While there, she worked with many to receive their GED and she worked with others who English was their second language. She had a true passion for helping others when it came to education.
In Mary Ann’s spare time, you could find her reading romance novels or shopping at thrift stores looking for a good bargain. Mary Ann was known to have a green thumb when it came to her flowers. She always made home prettier with pots of flowers, plants and knickknacks.
Mary Ann always listened without judgement, spoke without prejudice and loved without conditions.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents and brother William Vacek.
