Mary Alice Newman Hardie, of Oklahoma City, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013. She was born to the late George and Mary Newman December 31, 1931, in Hominy, Oklahoma. Mary graduated from Hominy High School in 1950 and attended William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri. She married the late Jack Hardie in 1954.
Mary and Jack were an adventurous couple and left Hominy in 1957 to live internationally in Venezuela, Dubai, and Iran. Domestically Mary and Jack lived in Hominy, Morgan City, Louisiana, Houston and Kilgore, Texas, finally settling in Oklahoma City. Mary loved traveling and touring with family and friends.
Mary was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She was an active member of the PEO Sisterhood and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mary is survived by three children and 6 grandchildren: son Robert and wife Benita of Houston; grandson Zachary and wife Danielle of Beaumont, Texas; son William and wife Karen, grandson Benjamin and granddaughter Holland of Midland, Texas; daughter Elizabeth and grandsons Kyle, Kenley, and Nolan of Soldotna, Alaska.
The family will receive guests at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, 6600 Broadway Ext., Oklahoma City, on Thursday, January 31 from 6-7 p.m. Graveside services will be 3 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2013 at Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 N. Grand Boulevard, Oklahoma City.
