Martin Roy Dawes, of Bethany, Oklahoma, was called away to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 6, 2022. He was born February 16, 1953 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Jack Walton Dawes and Gladys Anna Krause.
Martin was first and foremost a man of faith, putting his trust in the Lord that all would be well. He strove to walk closely with his Savior, making time for bible study each night. He let the joy of his faith fill every inch of his life, always able to find humor despite the situation. His family was also a point of pride, with his grandchildren being a particular source of joy.
On days of good weather, you could find him out in the garden tending to his prized tomatoes – probably with some classic rock or southern gospel playing on the radio. If you couldn’t find him in the garden, it was highly likely that he had gone to visit with one of his neighbors, perhaps even bringing them a gift of fresh, homegrown tomatoes.
To cherish his memory, Martin leaves behind his daughter Amy Joanna Campbell of Tulsa, OK; his son Andrew Martin Dawes, wife Joy, of Phoenix, AZ; his brothers Jack Dawes, wife Betty, of Bethany, OK, and Allan Dawes, wife Sharon, of St. Charles, MO; sister Anne Shirley of Oklahoma City, OK; Charlene Stoppa, husband David, of Yukon and Oklahoma City, OK; Arlene Lewis, husband Robert, of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren Jonathan Alexander, Carrie Angelina, Aaron Caleb, and Karli Reese; as well as twelve nieces and one nephew.
A funeral service in honor of Martin’s life will be held Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8701 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73162.
