Martha Lawter age 64 passed on November 29, 2012 at Baylor Cancer Hospital; while battling leukemia. She was born to Richard & Martha Krueger on November 14, 1948, and was the youngest of 3 girls. She attended Harding and John Marshal HS where she graduated in 1966. She received her bachelors in English from Central State University in Edmond, then taught English at Western Heights middle school. She married and gave birth to her only child Michael. Martha in the early 1980's was the Co-chairman of the Oklahoma County Democratic Party. She was very active and enjoyed going to sporting events, one of her favorites was the Women's Softball World Series. Martha loved watching her grandkids play sports and could be heard from the sidelines cheering them on. Her favorite pastime was spending time with Jacob and Mikalyn she would spend hours coloring and doing puzzles, she would even play games of front yard baseball with Jacob. Everyone that knew her loved her kindness, strength, and graciousness. Martha was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved to read, watch sports, and spend time with her grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves loving memories to her son, Michael Lawter & wife Leanne (McKinney, TX); 2 grandchildren, Jacob and Mikalyn; sisters, Pat Cooper (Edmond) and Carolyn McCoy (Lake Jackson, TX); close friends; and her dog, "Addie".
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 10am.
