Lynn was born on July 12, 1940 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She graduated from Hall High School in 1958 and attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Chi Omega. She then transferred to the University of Arkansas in Little Rock to be close to her Dad who was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She graduated in 1962 with a BA degree.
In 1962, she married Mike Kelly who was then a medical student at the University of Arkansas medical school in Little Rock. Lynn taught English at Forest Heights Junior High School while Mike completed medical school and an internship in Internal Medicine. Mike’s continuing education took them to Charlottesville, VA., St. Louis, MO., and Baltimore, MD., then to the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans for his first year of practice in Plastic Surgery. In 1975, the Kelly family moved to Oklahoma City.
Lynn was actively involved with Casady School where she served as President of the Casady Mother’s Club and with All Souls’ Church where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Altar Guild, and served on the Vestry. She was also a Stephen’s Minister.
Other than taking care of her family, Lynn’s most rewarding job was volunteering at the Guild of St. George at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Sadly, the Guild no longer exists, then the less fortunate in OKC have one less place to obtain food and financial assistance for necessities.
Lynn was a member of the Winter Ball Committee, Coterie Club, Queensbury Club, and Wednesday Study Club.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Michael Kelly, her parents, Margaret and Dr. Charles P. Wickard, sister, Mary Lee Shinn, brother, Charles Robert Wickard.
She is survived by children: Susan Lynn Kelly Kilburn and husband, Steve; Charles Bradford Kelly, Christopher Roberts Kelly; grandchildren: John Major Kelly, Lily Kathleen Kelly, Christopher Cannon Kelly; sister in law: Kitten Weiss and husband Dr. John Weiss; Patty and Mickey Freeman, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Chapel – All Souls Episcopal Church, 6400 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73116.
