Lynn Mary Sherrick was born on February 11, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio the second daughter of Emily and Frank Sherrick. She left this life on January 8, 2021. Lynn graduated from Libby High school in Toledo in 1962 and immediately made a commitment to the United States Air Force, to serve her country in the Medical Corp being honorably discharged in four years. After traveling some in California, Lynn moved to Oklahoma City so she could pursue a professional nursing career. She graduated form the St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing as the salutatorian of her class on May 15, 1977. Lynn returned to The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing to complete her education and graduated with honors in 1980. She immediately took a job at Oklahoma Medical Center where she completed her career until retiring due to health issues in 2013. Lynn was committed to excellence in whatever she did. She put her patients first and everything she could to support the medical team.
Lynn was an active member of the Village Methodist Church where she was active in the Crusaders Sunday School Class and enjoyed serving on the Missions Team. She also volunteered in the kitchen to help prepare the weekly community meals. Her church family was very important to her and she always found the best in people. Lynn took her spiritual growth and prayer life seriously. The Decker family has been an important part of Lynn’s life and she loves them all.
Lynn was surrounded by a close group of friends who were her lifelong support as she was theirs.
Lynn lost her only sister Wendi Wolfe to nonhodgkins lymphoma. Her nieces live in Toledo and Lynn has been able to spend time with them and their families. Laura Rudnicki, Nadine Wolfe, Diane Wolfe and their children. Her new great nieces, Ava and Alivia brought joy to Lynn’s life.
Lynn’s love for animals was well known and donating to Free to Live in her name would make her happy. With the pandemic, the local food bank or Salvation Army is also an option.
Lynn will be missed by many, loved by many and respected by all. Keep her in your prayers.
