Lee Craig Bullock, 92, of Oklahoma City, Okla., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 23, 2021. He was born February 24, 1929, in Oklahoma City to Hazen Earle and Myrtle Theresa (Swanson) Bullock. Lee grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated in the Class of 1946 from Putnam City High School. He began his formal education at Oklahoma City University but earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan., where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. His education had been temporarily delayed by his honorable service as an aviator in the U.S. Navy.
After additional certification, Lee began his professional career as a petroleum engineer with Lago Oil & Transport in the island country of Aruba. He held similar positions at Carter Oil, Humble Oil & Refining, and Peninsular Oil & Gas over the years. A registered professional engineer in Illinois, Michigan, Texas and Oklahoma, Lee also led his own private companies, Bullock Engineering and Bullock-Johnson Oil Properties. He was active in the American Petroleum Institute, the Society of Petroleum Engineers of the AIME, and the Oklahoma Regional Committee of the Gas Processors Association.
Lee was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, periodically teaching his Sunday School class. He also was a member of the American Legion and the Northwest/Casady Kiwanis Club. Lee was a volunteer for Whiz Kids, a faith-based, tutoring/mentoring program for at-risk elementary students and also served for many years as a driver for Mobile Meals. He was an excellent storyteller with a keen sense of humor that delighted his audience. Lee enjoyed spending time with his large family, solving crossword and sudoku puzzles, traveling, watching sports and reading.
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Gayle (Blankenship) Bullock and their children: daughter Cathy and husband Jim Huskerson of Oklahoma City; daughter Terry and husband Steve Largent of Tulsa; son Craig and wife Glenda Bullock of Sapulpa, and daughter Jennifer and husband Rick Payne of Broken Arrow. He also is survived by eight grandchildren and 15-1/2 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Lee’s name to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
A graveside service celebrating Lee’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper.
