Lawrence Adrian Ray Jr. “Larry“ went in peace to his heavenly home on March 22, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born in Hobbs, New Mexico to Lawrence and Joyce Ray, Larry spent most of his childhood in New Mexico where he graduated from Farmington High School in 1965. He attended college at Baylor University and Eastern New Mexico University, where he ultimately earned his bachelor's and master's degrees.
Larry had a successful career in the oil and gas industry. He started as a landman in Amarillo, Texas, but spent the majority of his career in executive roles in Oklahoma City and then retired in Houston, TX. Larry returned to spend his sunset years in Oklahoma, where he had raised his family, where it felt like home, and where access to OSU sporting events was easy to come by.
Larry loved to meet new people and hear their life stories. He had a charming way of quickly making genuine connections with people from all walks of life. He was fiercely passionate about sports and especially any sport played by the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He would share sports stories and talk stats with anyone who would listen. Larry was an avid athlete himself. He excelled at baseball in his youth and then on the golf course throughout his adult life. He passed on his love of sports to his three children, who enjoyed playing, watching and attending sporting events with their dad.
There was nothing as important to Larry as family, and what brought him the truest joy in life was any time his family could gather. Larry was a man of faith and an active member in the Presbyterian churches wherever he lived. Throughout their childhood he instilled in his kids the value of having faith and always showing up to church on Sunday.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Isla Sue Barnett. He is survived by his eldest son Aaron, and wife, Amber; his daughter, Stephanie, and her husband, Ryan; his son, Michael; and his grandchildren, Abigail, Evan, Tyler and Annabel. Larry was a devoted son, a loving father and grandfather, and he will be dearly missed by the many people who were blessed to know and love him.
