He was a graduate of Putnam City North High School in 2012 and the University of Central Oklahoma in May 2019 with an Accounting Degree. He worked many hours through those college years and paid for it all on his own. Kevin played the trumpet in High School and some in college. He loved the old style of classic and jazz music. He was employed at the On-Cue Convenience store in Edmond. He loved his regular customers and always tried to make people laugh and smile. Until all the COVID-19 closings, he was active playing the card game of Magic and played in tournaments. He spent a lot of time reading and listening to books as well as several podcasts including Ben Shapiro, his favorite.
In his elementary school years Kevin was a hugger. We cherished it as we knew it would soon fade away. Elementary school teachers were slightly shocked at first but soon loved those hugs as well. As a child, Kevin loved watching the Thomas the Tank Engine series. We spent many vacations riding old trains. For a couple of years we even joined a train club out in Harrah with train enthusiasts that brought their little trains including a replica of the engine down in Grapevine to Ft. Worth. That train was a coal burning steam engine owned by a family friend whose own kids knew Kevin.
Away from work, Kevin spent most of his time in his room playing online games with friends. Since graduation he spent a lot of time, money, and pride making his room not only look good with décor, but had a more impressive office set up with technology than even my own office. He was proud to have paid back a loan to his Grandma for school. He was working on paying down his college debts and was looking for a career in accounting. His plans were to take the CPA exam to get that designation as he knew that would mean a lot to his future.
Kevin had a small collection of friends and even fewer close friends but he loved everyone and strived to make people smile or laugh. He would bring things home to us as little surprises, always putting others first. He had strong political view points and loved to go to the gun range with his friend. He loved to talk politics but never let it come between his friendships.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clyde L. Miller Jr., for whom Kevin played taps at the graveside after Clyde’s funeral, and his infant brother Kory. He is survived by his Father and Mother, Randy and Janice, his Grandmother, Claudine Miller, his three siblings, Mari, Katie, and Keith, his nephew, Kaden, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be Friday, August 7 at the funeral home from 4 pm to 8 pm. The family will be here to greet friends from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
