Devoted mother, daughter, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. Juanita “Skippy” Robertson passed from this life on August 8, 2015 after battling dementia. She was 94. Skippy was born in Clover Hill, MS to Cleveland A. and Emma L. Anderson. She moved to Shawnee with her family at the age of five and attended elementary school and Shawnee High School. It was when she was a proud Shawnee High School cheerleader that she earned the nickname “Skippy”. After graduation from high school she and her family moved to Oklahoma City. In 1944, Skippy was working in Frederick, OK and met the love of her life, a dashing young Army Air Corps Dental Officer, Dean Robertson, who was stationed at the local Army Air Corps Base. After initially meeting him at a local Frederick High School football game, while she was with another date, their romance quickly bloomed and began a 71 year marriage on September 9, 1944 in Frederick. She happily assumed the role of wife and mother with the birth of her four daughters, Mirinda, Julie, Sally and Kathy. She was an active, attentive parent serving as President of the PTA at Edgemere Elementary as well as Harding Junior-Senior High School PTSA. Full of energy and active at Westminster Presbyterian church, she served as Deacon and Elder. Skippy was a member of chapter CA of PEO where she served as President. Mrs. Robertson is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Anna Lee Hurley, Franklin H. Anderson and Arthur Lee Anderson and her daughters, Julie Dean Leverett and Kathy Lou Cox. She is survived by her husband Joseph Dean of the home, daughters Mirinda Anne Hyde and Sally and husband Mickey Kern of Edmond. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Dr. Tyler (Gina) Leverett of Gulfport, MS; Whitney (Cory) Elrod of New Braunfels, TX; Anne (John) Cope of New Orleans, LA; Julia (Stuart) Reigeluth of Brussels, Belgium; Katie (Dr. Tom) Finley of Tulsa; Dr. J. Bridger (Michelle) Cox of Oklahoma City; Emily (Rob) Garrett of Edmond, OK; Courtney (Guy) Davidson of Savannah, GA. As well as her 14 great grandchildren: Keegan, Carson & Kennedy Leverett; Leverett, Sylvie and Bridger Elrod; Ava and Julia Cope; Porter, Campbell and Ford Finley: Griffin and Hudson Garrett; and Townsend Bridger Davidson. Nieces, Patricia Harris and Kaleen Knight and nephew Franklin H. Anderson, II. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful staff at the Fountains at Canterbury and Life Choice Hospice for their loving, professional and dedicated care of Skippy. Public visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, OMRF or charity of choice.
