Joey came into this world on September 25th, 1977, energetic and full of mischief. His big brother was eighteen months old when Joey was born. Steve was an instant protector, partner in crime, and best friend for life. The Love brothers guaranteed shenanigans were never far behind. Growing up, the boys rode the school bus to their grandparents’ house where “I’m fixin’ to scob your knob” was a Grandpa Love promise. To put things into perspective, Grandpa Love was blind, but very aware of the boy’s monkey business. Growing up in Choctaw, OK, Joey formed friendships he cherished throughout his life. In the fall of 1997, a Crest front-end store manager took notice of a deli worker. I’m not sure dating co-workers was allowed, but as the story goes, love wins, and Joey and Tamber remained at one another’s side for the next twenty-five years.
As an adult, Joey worked for Dayton Tires and Meridian Drilling before finding his purpose. The legalization of medical marijuana led Joey to pursue his passion in the cannabis industry. In 2020, Joey created his award-winning cannabis brand, Grown With Love. Joey’s passion and unique approach to curating led to an exceptional operation. In June 2021, The Green Grow Expo Cannabis Cup People’s Choice Award nominated him as the #1 Lead Cultivator in Oklahoma. Joey cherished the friendships he made and many in the cannabis industry will miss him.
When he wasn’t working, Joey loved listening to music, no matter the genre. His playlists might take you from “The Fightin’ Side of Me” by Merle Haggard to sipping on “Gin and Juice” with Snoop Dogg. Beyond listening to music, Joey loved playing his guitar. He was devoted to family and friends and never lacked a good punchline. Joey could sum up “family tradition” in two words, “Poker Tonight”, (“Flip it Uncle Pops.”) He loved his 69 Pontiac, fishing, training his border collies, Merle and Mazzy, and last but not least he loved rolling up a “proper fatty.” Joey touched the lives of all those who knew and loved him and will be deeply missed.
Joey is survived by his wife Tamber; mother Connie and stepfather Jim; stepmother Robin; siblings Steve, Annie, and Raymi; stepsisters Angela and Anna; his fur babies Merle and Mazzy; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends too many to list. Preceded in death by father Steve Leroy Love, grandparents Danah and Virginia Love, grandmother Ann Marie Scott, and a host of previously departed loved ones. Joey is reunited with his dad and departed loved ones. A round of fresh coffee is brewing and the poker table is ready.
