John David Williams, 67, left this physical world on June 11, 2024, at his home in Jones, Oklahoma. John David was the son of J.C. Williams and Edna Rose ‘Peggy’ Williams and an ornery older brother to his little sister, Theresa ‘Lorraine’ Williams Chambers. He was born on April 21, 1957, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where he was raised. He graduated from John Marshall High School and the University of Hard Knocks.
A jack of all trades and master of some, John was not afraid of hard work; he just got ‘too old’. He earned his living working in oilfields, construction, plumbing, wells and pools and was an experienced mechanic. He retired as a skilled electrician and, not so skilled diabetic. He was always willing to help his friends and family in need and anyone else for a fair market rate.
He was a storyteller, a rambler and a friend with a laugh that will be hard to forget. John loved to share a good home-cooked meal, as long as someone else cooked it and invited him over. It made him happy and we knew he appreciated it. His friendship and company will be forever missed and easiest to recall with fondness at dinner time when loved ones often found him at their table.
John loved animals and spoiled them more than most think possible. Throughout his life, he always had a pet and cared for many stray dogs, most notably his sidekick, Waggers.
John was a constant in the lives of his extended family. He is survived by his uncle, Cecil Williams, numerous cousins in Oklahoma and Texas, their children, his ‘little cousins’, and their families. John was preceded in death by his parents, sister, grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In the lives of those who loved him, John’s absence will make their world smaller and much quieter. The warmth of his spirit and friendship will live on in our fondest memories with the knowledge that he now rests peacefully, surrounded by his lost loved ones. We know one day, he’ll be there to greet us and hand us a plate.
John David’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:00 am at Eisenhower Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd, OKC, 73141.
