John Patrick “Packy” Evans, Jr. was born June 28th, 1964, in Oklahoma City to J. Patrick and Carole Jo (Kerley) Evans. He left us much too early on December 27, 2022. Packy grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma, and graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in 1982. He then attended Oklahoma State University where he was active in the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from OSU, Packy attended Oklahoma City University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1991. Throughout his career, Packy worked in the areas of banking and insurance, and was most recently employed as a mortgage broker. Packy was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, where, together with many of his closest friends, he served as a deacon and enjoyed participating in the church’s broadcast ministry. Packy married Lori Dillingham in 1993, and together they raised their son, John Patrick Evans, III.
Patrick was the joy of Packy’s life. Packy so enjoyed his time with Patrick and loved coaching Patrick’s soccer and lacrosse teams and the opportunities to volunteer at Patrick’s schools. Packy was active with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, having served on the Oklahoma City Board of Directors, during which time, he often traveled to Washington, D.C. to advocate for and bring awareness to those affected by multiple sclerosis. Packy’s implementation of the Smarty Pants Trivia Night fundraiser is responsible for tens of thousands of dollars being raised for NMSS. Packy never found a hobby he did not like (or excel). His interests include cooking, golfing, sailing, lacrosse, soccer, biking, reading, windsurfing, hunting, fishing, water skiing, and snow skiing. He enjoyed traveling and loved any opportunity to return to Crested Butte, Colorado or Lake Tenkiller.
Packy was a kind, caring and selfless soul, who was easy to be around. He was a loyal friend and confidant when needed, and just as easily, the fun-loving, unassuming friend ready for his next adventure. He was special.
Packy is survived by his son, Patrick, his former wife, Lori Dillingham, his sister, Tracy Evans of Norman, his sister, Kristin Evans Linholm and her husband Nick Linholm of Edmond, and their children, Jenna, Jackson, and Joshua Linholm.
Services for Packy will be Thursday, January 5th, at 2:00, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goodland Academy (www.goodland.org) or to the Oklahoma Chapter of the MS Society (www.nationalmssociety.org).
