James Russell Robinson, known to everyone as Rusty, entered heaven’s gates and into the arms of Jesus Christ on October 4th, 2022. He was 64. Rusty was born on February 5, 1958, in Oklahoma City, Okla. to Frank and Delma Jo Robinson. He was the youngest of their four children and a beloved little brother to Ross, Jane and David. During his final year of elementary school, Frank and Jo moved their family to Minnetonka, Minn. in 1969. After graduating from Charles Lindbergh High School in 1976, where he achieved All-State in both soccer and baseball, he was recruited to play soccer at Texas Christian University. He played one season before transferring to the University of Oklahoma. While in college, he pledged the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, played soccer for the club team and was a walk-on kicker for Sooner football. Rusty was honored with the Sid Auslager Award in 1979 which is given to the outstanding athlete in the Delt house. He graduated from OU in 1980 with a Bachelor of Business Administration - Marketing and began his career as a petroleum landman with Texas Oil & Gas.
Rusty was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, touching many lives across Colorado, Oklahoma and Minnesota. He met the love of his life, Myra Treece on the driving range at Kickingbird Golf Course in Edmond, Okla. on May 29, 1982. They were married the next year on August 27, 1983. After their first 7 years of marriage, they established their home in Littleton, Colo. where they raised their four children, Zac, Katie Ann, Taylor and Chase. While in Colorado, Rusty pursued and excelled in a career in medical device sales for 16 years where he consistently ranked among the top salesman in the world for his company. He then returned to the oil and gas industry before retiring in 2019. Rusty was most proud of coaching and watching his children excel in their sports and academics. As all four children went off to attend and graduate from Oklahoma State University (Myra’s alma mater), he eventually learned to love the color orange. He was a devout Christian and faithful church member throughout his life, establishing a firm foundation of faith for his family. He gave generously, prayed continuously, served passionately, and led all four of his children, and many others, to accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Along with his loving wife of 39 years, Rusty is survived by his children including Zac and his wife, Amelia and their daughter Madelyn; Katie Ann and her husband, Corey Lehman and their daughter Brielle; Taylor and her husband, Dustin Harshaw; and Chase. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses Ross and Cindy Robinson of Dallas, TX; Jane and Bruce Neidenfeuhr of Edmond, Okla, and David and Karen Robinson of Olathe, Kan. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank; mother, Delma Jo; and father-in-law, Denzel Treece. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws from both Robinson and Treece families.
