James Marcus Carmichael, Jr., 90, of Oklahoma City, passed away March 26, 2012. Jim was born July 15, 1921 to Lucille (Garza) and James Carmichael, Sr.
He studied engineering at OU until 1942, when he went to serve in WWII. After his late discharge in 1945, Jim resumed his education at OU, graduating in 1947. He was a proud member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Jim married Mary Alice Lillard August 29, 1942 in Shawnee. Jim and Mary gave generously to the OU School of Drama. Jim made a gift to the School of drama in Memory of Mary for the renovation of the Green Room in July 2007. Jim loved war history and politics and was an avid OU fan. Together, he and Mary enjoyed traveling, dancing and having parties. Jim was an usher and member of Nichols Hills United Methodist Church and member of the Petroleum Land Man’s Association.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2012, at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. Donations may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. Thank you to all the caregivers, Dr. Ron White and his nurse, Lisa, Home Instead and Intrust.
