Jakob Kannard

Jakob Leslie Kannard, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away June 19, 2022 at the age of 24 in Huntington Beach, California. He was born in Edmond, Oklahoma on October 28, 1997. Jakob graduated from Deer Creek High School in 2016. At the time of his death, Jakob worked as a Detox Technician at Healing Path Recovery in Huntington Beach, California because it was his desire to help others.

Jakob loved animals, especially dogs and horses. His best friend and constant companion was his dog Titan. They did everything together. Jakob trained Titan to be a certified service dog so that Titan could also help others. Jakob enjoyed working as a vet tech helping animals before he changed his focus to helping people in addiction and recovery. Jakob’s last act of kindness before his death was leading a meeting about gratitude and what he was thankful for in life. Jakob had a real talent as an artist. He began drawing and painting at a young age. Art became his way of expressing his thoughts and emotions. Jakob had a wonderful sense of humor & always put everyone at ease. Jakob was our fierce protector. Jakob will be deeply missed by his family and friends in both Oklahoma and California.

Jakob is survived by his mother, Margaret Kannard, and stepfather, Glendell Nix, of Edmond, his father, John L. Kannard, and stepmother, Donna Kannard, of Edmond; his sister, Makenna Ewing and her husband, Kody Ewing, their son, Rickie; his brothers, John D. Kannard and Mason Kannard; his paternal grandparents, David and Jonalyn Padgett; his stepbrothers, Chris Odom and Josh Odom; his grandfather, David Bartlett, and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Jakob was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ardis Bartlett, “Mur-Mur,” maternal grandfather, David Kaphaem, his uncle, Gary Kaphaem, and his paternal grandfather, Gary Kannard.
