Jack Howard Smith

Jack H. Smith, 82, passed away January 12, 2011 in Oklahoma City. He was born August 22, 1928 in Grovesprings, Missouri to Newell Cecil and Vera Mae (Fike) Smith. Jack became a member of the Church of Christ in 1967 and attended the Westview Church of Christ. He retired from Greyhound after 37 years of driving. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bob Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 66 years, Jewell “Judy” Smith; son, David Smith and his wife, Vickie; daughter, Jacqueline Arney and her husband, David; sister, Cathy Meents and her husband, Don; granddaughters, Janis Barefoot and her husband, Alex, Jennifer Leonard and her husband, James, Tamara Kuchera and her husband, Andy, Jessica Peek and her husband, Dustin, and Tiffany Roop and her husband, Robert; 12 great grandchildren; a very special cousin, Willie Mathews; and several nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Integris Hospice House for their compassionate care during Jack’s final days. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home chapel with interment following in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
