Harold Elbert Griffey Jr. went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2023, at home, surrounded by family and friends. Harold was born in Camden, Indiana Feb 12, 1951, to Lois and Harold Griffey Sr. He had 4 sisters – Marie, Anna, Lucky and Cheryl, plus 4 brothers – David, Jimmy, Ralph and John. Harold proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War on the ammunition ship The USS Mount Hood. In later years, he was never seen without his Navy baseball hat, which he wore with pride.
During his tour of duty, he met the love of his life, Jenny; It was love at first sight! They were married for 47 years, settling in the greater Oklahoma City Metro area. They were blessed with two children, Robert and Mike, seven grandchildren named Robert, Alyssa, Kirsten, Derek, Cody, Ky, Crescent, and four great-grandchildren named Jaxon, Lily, Kayden, and Adrian.
Harold worked in Civil Service at the VA hospital in Oklahoma City, and Tinker AFB. In later years, Harold and Jenny traveled the US extensively, driving charter buses. Harold and family were active members of the Full Gospel Assembly, and Tree of Life Fellowship.
In summing up Harold's life, he was a man of faith and love, who embodied the Golden Rule. He was honest, faithful to friends and family, and quick to help anyone in need.
