Glenda Louise Walker went home to be with Jesus on September 4, 2013, with her family by her side in Oklahoma City, OK. She departed this earth to the sounds of her family singing “Heaven’s Sounding Sweeter all the Time”.
Glenda was born March 20, 1941, in Mutual OK to Herman and Gertrude Pendley. She resided in Mutual with her parents and her sister, Donna, until 1954, when they moved to Oklahoma City, OK. Music was a big part of the Pendley household while she was growing up. Most people remember her for the extraordinary way she played the piano, but she could also play the organ, accordion & the mandolin. It is no surprise that she spent all of her life in some sort of musical capacity, from playing for the Eagle Aires, to playing hymns at church. She passed this love for music onto her girls, and had them singing at a very early age.
She was united in marriage to J.C. Walker on August 30, 1958. After a short time in Olympia, WA, while J.C. was in the service, they moved back to Oklahoma City to start a family. Their 3 girls - Renee, Susie, and Cyndi, also learned to play the piano…whether they wanted to or not. No matter where they were, Glenda had a place at the piano. They moved to northwest Oklahoma in 1970, and Glenda was the piano player at the Elm Grove Assembly of God Church for 27 years. Her girls have often said she could look at them with a “look” from the piano, and never miss a beat, but the girls knew they were going to get it when they got home.
They were called into the ministry in 1994, and have pastored in Leedy, Spencer Reigning Life, and currently at Hilltop Assembly of God. They moved to Jones in 2000. She was always by J.C.’s side, and was a great pastor’s wife. They celebrated 55 years of marriage this past Friday.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Gertrude Pendley, and her precious sister Donna Jean Rich.
She is survived by her husband, J.C. Walker, of the home, daughters Renee Roberts & husband Stacey of Mustang, Susie Barney & husband Michael of Fairview, OK, Cyndi St John & husband Rick of Mustang, OK. She loved spending time with her grandchildren who called her Nanny, Justin Barney of Ponca City, OK, Jenni Peck & husband Morgan of Mustang Ok, Delancie McLain and husband Micheal of Buffalo, Ok, Nicki Cuellar and husband Jaime of Houston Tx, Derek Driscoll of Mustang OK. She is also survived by great grandchildren Braden Barney & Dakotah Peck and a host of family and friends.
