George Gibson went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2014 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 86. He was born April 27, 1928 to George and Ethel Gibson in Ada, OK. George married his one true love, Georgette Jackson on August 12, 1956. Together they had 5 children, Billy, Chuck, Sherri, Tony and Scott. His parents died when he was 2, and was raised by his cousin Fronie Curley and her husband Wiley. As a boy he moved from Oklahoma to Texas many times and finally settled in Oklahoma. George worked for Borden’s Dairy where he was introduced to his bride by her stepfather. He began his career with 7-Eleven in 1956. He worked for 7-Eleven for 32 years. He was a store manager and opened many stores for the company the last store was located on 44th and Shields, in OKC. George and Georgette loved to square dance. They belonged to Central District Square Dance Organization. They passed their love of square dance down to their children who belonged to a clogging group called the Oil Kountry Kloggers. George and Georgette sponsored the Oil Kountry Kloggers and traveled all over the U.S. and visited Russia with the group. He enjoyed his family and friends. He never met a stranger. His grandchildren were his pride and joy who he bragged about constantly. George was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Ethel Gibson, foster parents, Fronie and Wiley Curley, his loving wife, Georgette and infant son Billy. He is survived by his sons Chuck (Sheila) Gibson, Tony (Lisa) Gibson and Scott (Georgia) Gibson and by his daughter Sherri (Ray) Rodriquez. His grandchildren Steven (Mika) Gibson, Alicia (Jimmy) Stromberg, Jenna Gibson, Trever McElroy, Casey Hayes, Karly (Jacob) Slate, Tanner Gibson. His great grandchildren, Austin and Ryder Gibson, Reece and Raegan Stromberg and Aiden and Trinity Slate. Visitation will be at Hahn-Cook on Friday from 1-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel. Interment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Arrangements under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, Oklahoma City, OK.
