George Carlton Darden

George Carlton Darden was born February 17, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Sylvester and Susie L. (Lyles) Darden. He departed this life October 19, 2014. George moved with his family to Enid, Oklahoma during his childhood and at the age of 18, he enlisted in the Navy and served his country. He was a long time employee of the City of Oklahoma City before retiring in 2005. George married Dorothy Carmichael on April 12, 1974. He attended the Midwest City Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where he was a faithful member and was active until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife and one grandson, Dexter Brown, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory 5 daughters: Carliss Darden-Walker and husband Reginald, Sr. and Kimberly Darden Dukes, both of Oklahoma City, Terry Darden, Michelle Darden and Mardeana Darden, all of Michigan; eleven grandchildren, Reginald Walker II, of Texas, Erica Parker of Oklahoma City, Raylishya Guillen and husband Kevin, Travis Dukes, Jr., and Ramion Dukes, all of Lawton, Oklahoma, Jasmine Lyles, Glenda Darden, Deandre´ Harris, Lyzalle Darden, Rahmaude Stringfield and Devon Jones, all of Michigan; five great grandchildren: Anahi, Quinton, Indyia, Asia and Chanel; special cousins, Marva Smith, Ruby Brown and Esterline Sanders; special nephew, Glen Long and a host of relative and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Arlington Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with entombment to follow.
