Allen attended high school in Dewey, Oklahoma (Class of 1989.) He started is college career in Coffeyville, Kansas where he played baseball and then at The University of Central Oklahoma and was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. He was a devoted Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys fan. He enjoyed anything having to do with sports, especially baseball and even cheerleading if it meant he got to see his children doing what they love.
There is not a person that ever met Allen that would not be able to share a funny memory of him as he was always there for a good laugh. We will all miss that voice at the back of the baseball games yelling “see ball, hit ball”, the way he’d play “Hey Jealousy” by the Gin Blossoms on his leg air guitar, or how he could never simply sit like a regular person, he always had to be twisted up like a pretzel. Allen was the type of guy that would leave the house in one outfit, probably heavily layered up (the man was always cold) and come home in a different outfit, simply because he saw someone throughout his day that needed a shirt, pair of shoes, etc., and he would simply hand his over.
Allen’s funny antics and quick wit is something that will always be prevalent in the minds of all who knew him.
There was nothing more that Allen loved than his children. He would be the first person to tell you that they were his greatest accomplishments in life and his reasons for living. Upon both times finding out Julie was pregnant, the first time his response was over the top yelling, “I’m tickled pink” and then the second, the same excitement followed by, “Atta’ boy”! Both times, he would be right, as Sutton was born first, followed by her brother, Catcher, three years later. Allen wanted nothing more in the world than to be a father. He loved them with every ounce of his being.
He is preceded in death by both his parents, father, Jimmy Allen Lindley and mother, Dora Sue Inman and stepfather, Bud Inman.
Allen is survived by his daughter, Sutton Lindley of Piedmont, Oklahoma and his son, Catcher Lindley of Piedmont, Oklahoma, brother, Johnny Lindley and wife, Sheryl of Corpus Christi, TX, sister, Connie Crawley and husband, Bob of Langley, Oklahoma, two half-brothers, Jesse and Jacob of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Although, at times, Allen was known for his class clown antics and being in the spotlight, he spent many years of his life expressing to the people closest to him that if he were to pass, he wanted nothing to do with a funeral. If he had it his way, nobody would know of his passing, as Allen never wanted to inconvenience anyone on his behalf. Friends, classmates and co-workers have expressed wanting to gather in a celebration of life for Allen, this date is TBD as details are being worked out.
In lieu of flowers, friends have setup a Go Fund Me education fund for his children Sutton and Catcher Lindley. https://gofund.me/d2f5e539
