Geleeta was born to Finus & Helen Kirk on November 17, 1933 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After Geleeta completed High School, she went on to study at Oklahoma State University where she would meet the love of her life, William “Bill” Vernon York. Bill & Geleeta married his last year of college at OSU.
Bill’s job in Geology allowed the family to move all over. They moved from Ft. Smith, Arkansas to Shawnee, Oklahoma to Enid, Oklahoma, where Geleeta had Malisa, their only daughter. Geleeta and Bill would move to Amarillo, Texas before moving to their final home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Geleeta loved all things, from pastel colors to flowers to water & snow skiing. She loved all different types of music. Her and Bill especially loved to dance with one another. She also had a passion for gardening and hosting different luncheons and cooking different menus for Holiday events.
She enjoyed sleeping in, walks & line dancing class with her neighbor friends. Geleeta was heavily involved and was a member of many different groups and clubs. She was a member of the Geological Wives Association, Central Oklahoma Jaguar Association, her Bridge Club and her Girls Bowling team.
Geleeta is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Malisa Tomlinson of Yukon, Oklahoma; Son-in-law, Chris Tomlinson; a grandson, Cory Tomlinson. Geleeta is survived by numerous nieces and Nephews & a “fur baby” Daisymay.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 15, 2023 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, 6600 Broadway Ext. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73116. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 10:30 am in the Chapel of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors with a private interment to follow. Memorial contributions can be made to Oklahoma Geological Fund, or to Oklahoma State University Geological Scholarship Fund.
