Elaine Virginia Olson King, 98, of Van Buren, passed away, Thursday, March 11, 2021. She was born June 27, 1922 in Stanley, WI, the daughter of Ole and Minnie Olson. She was preceded in death by four siblings – Milton, Orin, Selma and Helen. During World War II, she met and married Charles Leroy King of Chickasha, OK, then serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. They lived for 59 years in Oklahoma City and were married for 69 years, until Charles’ death in 2014. . They were parents of three children, Dennis, David and Diane Broderick (who passed away in 1995). Charles and Elaine were longtime members of the Putnam City Methodist Church, where they volunteered for many of the church’s community programs and where Elaine was especially active in the church’s Meals on Wheels program. She loved gardening, camping, playing the organ, reading and making ceramics. In later years, Charles and Elaine lived at the Legacy Heights Retirement Center in Van Buren.
She is survived by two sons, David and wife Virginia, and grandchildren Matthew, Joshua and Gracie King of Van Buren, and Dennis and wife Suzan of Chicago and grandson Christopher King of Tulsa.
