Edward Charles Paine

Edward Charles Paine, age 58, won his battle with cancer, surrounded by his family on Sept 7th, 2022. He was known to those close to him as Ed or Eddie. Ed was born in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to Sidney and Sarah Paine on Feb 1st, 1964. He was the youngest of 5 children. As a child, he was friendly and outgoing and would often invite neighbors to have coffee with his mother, Sarah.

He joined the Navy in 1981, and he was very proud of his service to his country working on nuclear submarines throughout his military career. During this time, he welcomed four of his daughters before honorably discharging in 1992. Following his naval career he worked in hospitality management, until 2013 when he retired.

Ed met the love of his life, Amanda Thurman in 2007 and they married on November 1, 2008. Ed and Amanda welcomed their daughter in 2018. Ed was a perfect “girl dad”, known for his nerdy sense of humor, and loved his family fiercely.

Ed is survived by his wife Amanda, parents Sidney and Sarah Paine; his siblings Florence, David, Debbie, and Renata; daughters Dianne, Kelly, Heather, Jennifer and Sarah Elizabeth; and his nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was loved by many and will be incredibly missed by those who love him.

Military Honors will be rendered at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Use the east entrance by the Chapel Hill Funeral Home and you will see tents immediately to your right.
