Doug was born in Oklahoma City on July 9th, 1947 to parents Orville and Billie Lock, and went on to graduate from US Grant High School in 1966. He played varsity football for 2 years and was also part of the “O” team for 2 years.
He met Laura Rennay Trumbly in his earlier years, and the two were happily married on January 22nd, 1968. Following this he furthered his education gaining a Bachelor of Science in Adult Education from UCO in 2000, and a Bachelor of Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 2001.
Doug held a career in Aeronautics, and was an A&P Mechanic for the United States Air Force, as well as the United States Navy serving on the USS Nimitz & the USS Carl Vincent (Retired 1989). He was also an A&P Mechanic for the AAR Corporation in Oklahoma City, as well as Continental United Airlines in LOs Angeles California. Later in his career Doug retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 2013 as an advisor of the technical program of the B1 Bomber.
Doug had a passion for traveling and spending time with family. He loved to get together with his children and grandchildren. Doug loved motorcycles and motor cycle riding, as well as shooting guns and going to the OKC gun club. Above all else Doug loved his family.
Doug is survived by his wife Laura Rennay Smith; Children, Mistie Dawn Smith-Newsom, and Christie Rennay Smith; Grandchildren, Alexandra Newsom and Peyton Newsom; Brothers, Dr. Mike Lock and Ron Lock.
Friends and family are welcome to the graveside service for Doug on Thursday, December 15th, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park Cemetery located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
