Dorothy Marie Lancaster went to be with her Lord on October 15, 2012. She was born in Bristow, Oklahoma, on May 12, 1923 to Raymond Ted and Claudia (Howell) Barnhart. She attended Northeast High School and Wright Business School. Dorothy married William (Bill) Lancaster on August 7, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She worked at Douglas Aircraft during World War II and worked for many more years at Sohio Petroleum and B S & B, both in Oklahoma City, Reed Tool Company (Oklahoma City and Houston), and Hardware World in Houston, Texas. She was a member of Central Avenue Free Will Baptist Church for several years before moving to Houston, Texas, with her employer. After retiring and moving to Palestine, Texas, she became a member of Southside Baptist Church for 22 years where she sang in the senior adult Joy Choir. She and her husband enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada for a few years of their retirement. Upon moving from Palestine approximately 5 and ½ years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Newalla, Oklahoma, she joined First Baptist Church of Newalla. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Glenda Baker of Houston, Texas; and Carolyn Hughes of Newalla, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Newalla, Oklahoma, with burial on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Roselawn Park Cemetery in Palestine, Texas.
