Donna Kay (Mullins) Earnheart died in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on May 30, 2024, at the age of 85. She was a lifelong Methodist and was always grateful for God’s many blessings. At her request, a private graveside service will be held for the immediate family only.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, on September 1, 1938. Donna was the eldest of two daughters of J. W. and Anne P. Mullins. In 1956, she graduated from Central High School in Memphis, Tennessee. Later that summer the Mullins family moved to Oklahoma City. Donna then attended the University of Oklahoma for two years where she earned a Secretarial Science Certificate and was initiated into the Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. After college she worked for four years in the Oklahoma Division office of Shell Oil Company.
Donna spent the next seventeen years as a devoted stay-at-home mom focusing on the well-being of her two children. When they were grown and married, she started a new chapter in her life as Gram. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and reveled in their many achievements.
In 1980, Donna was employed by the State of Oklahoma. She worked as a Legislative Assistant in the Oklahoma House of Representatives for many years and retired with fond memories of the friends she made through her work at the State Capitol. She also volunteered in a number of political campaigns, always supporting her favorite candidate.
After retirement, Donna filled her time with family, friends and activities she enjoyed. She had a keen interest in Colonial Williamsburg and American folk art. She was also fond of classical music, the Nutcracker ballet, needlepoint projects and a good underdog movie.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jerrianne Savage; her niece, Jerrikaye Savage; and her great-grandson, William Risinger. She is survived by her two children: a son, Hugh Earnheart of Moscow, TN and a daughter, Erica Fain, of Edmond. Hugh’s wife, Deidre, and Erica’s husband, Tim, also survive, as do five grandchildren: Chett Earnheart (wife Kati), Emiley Risinger (husband Chris), Melani Earnheart, Taylor Delker (husband Kevin), and Parker Fain (wife Molly); and eight great-grandchildren. Other surviving family members include a niece, Cynthia S. Williams, PhD, of Fort Worth, Texas; and three great-niece and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
