Donald attended Capitol Hill High School and after graduation went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at Central State University in 1975. He was an avid reader and enjoyed anything by John Grisham. He could also be found doing crossword puzzles and watching sports in person or on TV. Donald answered his country’s call and joined the US Army in 1958. After an honorable discharge, Donald went to work at the United States Postal Service, where he eventually retired.
Donald shared 57 years of marriage to the love of his life, Donna. Before her passing, they frequently visited Branson and enjoyed watching the Gospel shows. His faith was very important to him, and he was a long-time member of Southern Hills Baptist Church and was active in Sunday School.
Donald is survived by his children; Marsha Rogers and husband, Robert, Jennifer Steffens and husband, Aaron, Donnie Stokes and wife, Tracy, and Melinda Murillo and husband, Phillip; grandchildren, Tami Judkins and husband, Joel, Jon Rogers, Ethan Steffens, Darcy Steffens, Avery Josey and husband, Curtis, Taber Stokes; great-grandchildren, Alivia Rogers, Dalton Judkins and wife, Carmen, Jaxon Judkins; great-great grandchild, Millie Judkins.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Donna Stokes; Stepson, Robert Sims; parents, Harold and Laura; step father, Charles Rutherford; and brothers Leo Stokes and Harold Stokes Jr.
Graveside services for Donald will be 12:30pm on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
