On March 16, 2017, Delores Marie Turner, age 77, was called from labor to reward. Delores was born to Phillip and Rachel Turner on July 5, 1939 in Crescent, Oklahoma. She was educated in Dover local schools and through Oklahoma City Community Colleges.
She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, and at the time of her passing had served as a faithful member of Sixth and Jordan Church of God in Christ, now Victory Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Malcolm Coby.
After marrying in 1959, Delores later bore five children. She worked in the urban league, at the US Postal Office and later retired from the FAA after over 30 years of service.
She had a passion for cooking and sewing. But her ultimate passion was music. She believed that every child should be exposed to different types of music and every child had a musical gift that just needed to be found.
Delores had an infectious smile that would light up a room. With her love for the church and an unquenchable desire for education, she never stopped learning and fed many University of Oklahoma students as an encouragement to come to church.
Delores is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Raymond, Donald, Martin and Delbert, one sister, Beatrice, and one daughter, Ladonna.
She leaves behind sons Phillip and Salim (daughter-in-law Michelle), daughters, Rachael and Naomi, and inherited daughter Twyla; Sisters, Theresa, Phyllis, Mildred, Evelyn, Carmella, Naomi, Zelma, Shirley, Eloise; Brother David (and their spouses); 9 grandkids, 1 great-grandson and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
