Curtis Billy Kubiak, 92-year-old former Spencer, OK resident, passed away on April 28, 2015 at Ranch Terrace Nursing Home in Sapulpa. Born September 23, 1922 in Harrah, he was the eldest son of Stanley and Rose Kubiak. He was married to Pearl Gorski Kubiak for 58 years before her death in 2008.
He joined the Army in March 1944, and served in the Army Air Corps and Air Force, where he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was called back into active duty at Tinker Air Force Base during the Korean War from 1951-53. He worked his entire career for the Mobil Oil Company, starting first with its Magnolia Petroleum Company in 1946, then retiring as a marketing representative in 1984. From 1954-59, he took night classes to earn his marketing degree from Oklahoma City University. He was also an instructor for the Dale Carnegie Course for 10 years in Central Oklahoma.
He was a faithful church member, Board of Directors member, and served as the 1st Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, at Our Lady Fatima Catholic Church in Nicoma Park. He later became a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Midwest City until his move to Sapulpa in 2013.
Curt was predeceased by his wife, parents, two brothers and a sister, as well as his daughter Deborah just last year. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Larry Kubiak of Tallahassee, FL; Ron Kubiak of Sand Springs, OK; Greg Kubiak of Washington, D.C. and their spouses as well as three grandsons, a granddaughter, and four great grand-children.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm, Sunday, May 3 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home (8805 NE 23rd St., 73141) with funeral mass at 10 am on Monday, May 4 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church (1107 Felix Place, 73110) followed by graveside services at St. Teresa’s Catholic Cemetery in Harrah. In lieu of flowers, any special remembrances may be directed to Sister Of Life (www.sisteroflife.org).
