Connie was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on February 12th, 1934 to parents Vernon and Faye Snell. She grew up in Oklahoma City and went on to graduate from Classen High School. Furthering her education she attended Oklahoma University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree. In her later years, carrying on her school spirit, she enjoyed having gatherings with friends and family to watch the OU football games.
Following college she met Jack Smith and the two were happily married on November 11th, 1970. She and Jack took many trips to Las Vegas together.
Connie had a career in oil and gas where she worked as a secretary for Oklahoma Natural Gas for many years. Connie also bowled in a league with women who worked at ONG, which she greatly enjoyed. She and the women kept in touch after they retired by going to lunches together.
Connie loved animals, and had two dogs named Fritzie. At the end she had a cat named Missy whom she rescued. She always wanted Missy in the room with her, and loved when she sat in her lap and kept her company.
Connie had a great sense of humor and quick wit. She was known for her rum cakes that she often made and gave to her friends. Connie had quite the DVD collection, with old movies featuring John Wayne and most recently Ben Affleck. She loved to watch these movies over and over. She also belonged to First Baptist Church of downtown OKC for over 50 years. The family would like to thank the people that kept in touch with her when she could no longer attend there.
The family would also like to acknowledge their appreciation and thanks for the people of Suncrest Hospice. They were truly caring, considerate, and there for Connie in her last days.
A graveside service will be held for Connie at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 16th, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
