Colleen Francis Tate, 91, passed away on March 18, 2018 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born January 24, 1927 in Seminole, OK. to Beulah and Amos Cruce. She had 2 brothers and a sister. After graduating from Buckner High School at 18, she left Seminole for Oklahoma City and got a job for 8 years at the state capital. When her kids graduated from high school she became one of the top sales people at Keener’s Early American Shop in Bethany, OK where she worked for years. Colleen had always been around the furniture business as her husband, Earl was a manufactures rep for many furniture companies in his career. She usually attended the furniture markets with him. She was an avid sports fan especially the Cubs, OKC Thunder and OU sports. Colleen loved to dance, (especially to her son’s rock & roll band), fish, gardening, and was incredibly lucky playing the slots. She watched her cubbies every time they were on TV for decades and lived to see the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. She married Earl Tate who passed in 2013 for 66 years. She is survived by son, Rickey Len and his wife Joan, Tulsa, OK, grandson, Dr. Ben Gerkin and his wife, Caren, three great grandchildren; Maddy, Macy, and Max . She is also survived by her daughter, Susan and husband David Goss, Edmond, OK, grandson, Jesse Leveritt and his wife, Randah, great-grandchildren; Haley, Abby and niece Troyce Lee Tate.
Colleen had excellent care givers Michele Davis and Vicki Greene who she loved dearly.
Charitable contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 5001 N May Ave. Visitation will be Wednesday from 8 AM to 8 PM at Hahn Cook, 6600 Broadway Extension. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday March 22, 2018 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 NW Expressway, OK City, OK.
