Mr Stoabs was like a grandpa to me. I didn't know either of my grandpas and he definitely filled the void. I remember many times standing with him in his kitchen discussing a wide variety of topics. He would say we were "solving all the world's problems". He was a thoughtful, caring man who planned things out meticulously, but was not afraid of getting dirty. I remember squeezing under the house with him to help demolish an old kitchen drain, and sitting on the back patio listening to all of his plans for his garden. He was a wonderful person in this world, and I'll miss him very much. 

My Grandpa was a truly wonderful man (kind, giving, witty, forgiving, and strong). He spent his life solving problems (at work and around the house) and is partly why I was interested in studying engineering in college.

Grandpa was also a man of God and a devoted member of his church. "If God ever made a mistake, it was the bell pepper." (He was also pretty funny). He obsessed over his huge vegetable garden and collected pecans from the tall trees around the property (with the help of the handy pecan-picker-upper he invented).

Grandpa was 90 years old and even this spring remembered Grandma and his 67th wedding anniversary! Can you imagine?! They were a great team. Grandpa constructed their Village neighborhood home (building onto an existing small old house) and Grandma made it beautiful.

We spent nearly everyday at that house (playing basketball, running across the street to the park, playing croquet in the big backyard, catching fireflies, playing piano in the parlor with my best friend, climbing the willow tree in the front yard).

I'll never forget sitting around the table on Thanksgiving with the sound of a football game in the background after dinner, going to Furrs on Sundays, and getting hamburgers at Johnny's. Oh, and the birthday chair, we HAVE to mention the birthday chair!

My childhood was magical and it was my grandparents that provided most of that enchantment. When I was 10, I traveled to Florida with them. We visited Disney World, Universal Studios, and the Kennedy Space Center. It was epic. My grandpa saw me looking at a 101 Dalmatians figurine in the gift shop and surprised me with it. I keep it in my china hutch to this day.

I loved my grandpa so much. It's hard to say goodbye and to lose another foundational pillar in my life, but there's nowhere he can go where he won't also be with me.

I will forever be thankful for Mr. Stoabs and his wonderful family. He was a great family man and he will be dearly missed.  My condolences to the family.

To the Family of Wendall  Stoabs 
I got to know the Stoabs family when I married Wayne Guffy son of James and Jessie Guffy who were neighbors and great friends of the Stoabs in 1947. Wendall also knew my sister Lila Caywood when she lived with us too. Our sons are also great friends of Mark and have visited the home place many times. I thoroughly enjoyed reading of Wendalls life and about all of his family.

I'm so very sorry for your loss!  I remember many times being at Norma and Wendall's home for meals and sharing with the family.  It's hard to believe so much time has gone by since those times of family fun and fellowship.  They were always so kind and gracious and Wendall just seemed like he was the most easy going person I've ever met.  I love those memories and I know no one will ever replace your beloved Wendall!  Many hugs and prayers to you as you go through this very difficult time.
