Brenda was born on May 19, 1941, in Long Beach, California, to Edna Puckett and Emmitt McFarland. When she was a year old, she was adopted by Virgle and Fay Ophelia Creson Wilkinson and brought to Oklahoma where she lived the rest of her life.
Brenda was preceded in death by her most wonderful adoptive parents, Virgle and Fay Wilkinson, and by her life partners, Jo Stripling of 25 years, and Barbara Ryan of 19 years. She is survived by her present life partner, Diane Head; her brother, Jimmy Jenkins; her two special cousins, Billy and Jeff Saville; her special family Tim Bleigh and Royce Parkhurst; her pet dogs, Abby, Lindi, and K.C; and many special friends who were so important and like family to her. Several were considered her sisters. They just did not have any legal papers. Her mom always claimed Linda Ennis as her daughter but said she just didn't have any papers on her.
Brenda graduated from Moore High School in 1959. She worked in the insurance business; at Western Electric; as lead lady in her department at Aero Commander; for the U.S. Post Office as one of the first lady carriers in Oklahoma City; before becoming a realtor, her profession for 41 years. She was a broker and co-owner of the Wilkinson-Ryan Real Estate Company in Oklahoma City which she co-founded in 1996. She was a member of the Oklahoma City Metro Board of Realtors.
Brenda had an optimistic attitude throughout her life, even during her twenty-three-year battle with scleroderma. She was a very giving and generous person who always put her family and friends first and she was truly loved by all who met her because she made everyone feel special.
Brenda would like to be remembered for her tremendous love for her friends and pets and for her love of the outdoors. Last, but not least, she would want to be remembered for the hundreds of chocolate cakes she gave away as "thank you's" and "I love you's" through the years. May she rest in peace.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the Memorial Park Historic Cemetery Chapel, 13400 N Kelley in Oklahoma City. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery, 2301 E. Indian Hills Road, Norman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter, 2811 SE 29th St, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73129. (405) 297-3100
