Bobbie Marie Ferguson Tracy was born February 3, 1936, in Oklahoma City to L. Lucile and James R. (Mike) Ferguson. She attended Oklahoma City schools: University Heights Elementary, Harding Junior High, and Classen High School.
Bobbie earned an academic scholarship and attended Radcliffe College her freshman year. She then transferred to the University of Oklahoma where she joined the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She graduated in 1958 with a major in math and a minor in Physics. After graduation, she went to work for IBM as a Systems Representative in Oklahoma City.
In 1960 Bobbie married her high school sweetheart, Robert G. (Bob) Tracy. Bobbie continued to work for IBM after getting married, but eventually became a teacher. Bob was in the Air Force so they made several moves over the years and made lasting friendships across the United States.
Bob and Bobbie have two children, Steve and Linda. When they were young, Bobbie was usually busy supporting whatever activity they were involved in at the time. When they were older, Bobbie changed careers and went to work in the hotel business. This was a joy to her as she was in the front office where she worked directly with hotel guests.
After Bob and Bobbie retired, they moved back to Oklahoma in 2003. They reconnected with friends from high school and college. They joined Westminster Presbyterian Church and became involved in various social and volunteer organizations. Bobbie delivered mobile meals for the church and volunteered at Mercy Hospital. She was on the Classen High School Alumni Board and served as Corresponding Secretary and Reunion Chairman. She was a member of the Red Hat Honeys of Edmond, as well as the Salvation Army Auxiliary where she served as check-in chairman. She was active in the Gamma Phi Beta alumni, where she was recognized as Woman of the Year, and she always enjoyed her Pen and Quill book club. Bobbie's greatest pleasure came from spending time with family and friends, and giving of her time to help others in whatever ways she could.
Bobbie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bob; son Steve Tracy of Linden, VA; daughter Linda Tracy and granddaughter Larisa Tracy both of Missoula, MT; brother Jim Ferguson of San Francisco, CA, as well as other extended family.
Services will be held 11:00 am, May 24, 2024, at Hahn Cook Funeral Home, 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK.
