Betty Hall Law McWilliams, a woman whose spirit, courage, and sense of fun endeared her to many, died on October 14, 2014. Born in Jane Lew, West Virginia, on March 7, 1918, she and Francis E. Law, deceased, were the children of Dr. Thomas F. Law and Ethel Virginia Hall Law. In 1924, she moved to Washington, D.C., with her family, where she graduated from Central High School. She entered the University of Maryland and became a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She received her B.S. degree in 1939. While in college she met the late William Jameson McWilliams of Indian Head, Maryland, and they were married in 1940. Together they raised three children, Thomas, Ann, and Susan. In 1955 the family moved to Oklahoma City. Betty joined the Crown Heights United Methodist Church, where she remained an active member until her death. She was a strong supporter of the Metropolitan YWCA and served as president in 1964-65. Betty enjoyed the arts and worked for the Oklahoma Symphony Society and the Art Center Association. She was a member of the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club, where she tried to improve her golf game. She pursued some of her varied interests by participating in the Philomathea Club, the Thursday Book Club, and the Odd Lots Investment Club. For many years she continued to enjoy bridge with her friends. She is survived by her three children: son Thomas Francis McWilliams and his wife, Heidi, of New York City and Watch Hill, R.I.; daughter Ann McWilliams Moore and her husband, James, of Santa Fe, N.M.; daughter Susan Lynn McWilliams of Albuquerque, N.M.; granddaughter Jeanne Blasberg and her husband, John, of Boston, M.A.; great grandchildren John Blasberg, Charles Blasberg, and Anne Blasberg; and nieces Lynda Wilson and Barbara White. The family would like to give special thanks to J.J. Jones for her untiring and tender care as well as her good humor and sense of fun. The family would also like to express appreciation to the late Sharon McCarrell for her long and devoted service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crown Heights United Methodist Church or YWCA of Oklahoma City.
