After graduating High School Bennie moved to Oklahoma City and worked for the Telephone Company. While living in Oklahoma City she met and married Max R. Ballard on July 23, 1960 and they bought their first house in Nicoma Park, Oklahoma. They had one son, Kevin, who was born in 1962. In 1963 Max and Bennie moved to Coolidge, Kansas where Max taught school. They lived there for five years before returning to Nicoma Park, Oklahoma. Bennie was a homemaker, florist and she babysat numerous children in her home.
Max and Bennie, along with Bennie’s mother, Velma moved to Colorado Springs in October 2010 to be close to their son.
Bennie was an active and long-time member of the Eastside Church of Christ and at the time of her death was a member at the Pikes Peak Church of Christ in Colorado Springs. She and Max participated in a number of campaigns and mission trips with the Eastside congregation and she taught at Quartz Mountain Christian Camp for 26 years.

Patrick and his wife Ashley of Colorado Springs
Alexander and his wife Karissa of Colorado Springs
One brother, James Graham and his wife Ramona of Pearland, Texas
One sister, Joan Benson of Little Rock, Arkansas
And numerous other relatives and friends
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Eastside Church of Christ in Midwest City, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens.
