Beatrice Fern Rice was born September 16, 1919 in Sylvia, Kansas to Samuel Williams and Leota Bradford Williams. She was the youngest of four children. The family moved to Oklahoma when Fern was only two months old. She grew up in Creek County, Oklahoma between Shamrock and Drumright where she attended grade school and high school at UG #5. Hills Business College in Oklahoma City gave Fern her training to become a secretary for United Theater Owners of Oklahoma where she worked most of her career.
April 3, 1948 Fern married Roger E. Rice at the First Christian Church in Oklahoma City. They enjoyed traveling and hiking the mountains near Estes Park, Colorado with their dear friends Joe and Marie Holland. Friends and family were important to Fern, and they loved being around her because of her great sense of humor and pleasant personality. She was a true Southern lady. 1121 Woodlawn Place in Oklahoma City was Fern’s address from the time she married Roger until she moved into the cottages and then assisted living at Bradford Village in Edmond, Oklahoma.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger, and her brothers Charlie, Bert, and George. Remaining nieces, nephews and friends will miss her greatly.
