Allen J. Lawson, 84, of Luther, Oklahoma, passed away November 25, 2023. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois on March 7, 1939. Allen graduated from Augustana College earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. He was married for 57 years to Betty Ann Harbolt on September 24, 1966.
Allen was a proud U.S. Army veteran and had a distinguished career in law enforcement spanning 33 years working as an Oklahoma County Deputy Sheriff, Department of Public Safety Trooper and Drivers License Hearing Officer. Allen was a dedicated husband, father, and friend.
He enjoyed having fun with family, grandchildren, camping, woodworking, and Oklahoma Sooners football.
He was survived by daughters Sheri Detwiler, Debbie Opichka, and son Jim Lawson, in-laws Burt Detwiler, John Opichka, Mary Lawson, grandchildren Jeremy Radtke, Shane Radtke, Blake Detwiler, Tony Opichka, Rosie Cortez-Rodriguez, Brianna Pearson, Jamie Gilstrap, and 12 great grandchildren.
Betty A. Lawson, 78, of Luther, Oklahoma, passed away November 29, 2023. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on October 7, 1945. Betty graduated from Northwest Classen High School. She was married for 57 years to Allen James Lawson on September 24, 1966. Betty had a distinguished career in law spanning 26 years working as an Oklahoma County Bailiff and Legal Secretary.
Betty was a dedicated wife, mother, and friend. She enjoyed having fun with family, grandchildren, camping, reading every book in the library, and Oklahoma Sooners football.
She was survived by daughters Sheri Detwiler, Debbie Opichka, and son Jim Lawson, in-laws Burt Detwiler, John Opichka, Mary Lawson, grandchildren Jeremy Radtke, Shane Radtke, Blake Detwiler, Tony Opichka, Rosie Cortez-Rodriguez, Brianna Pearson, Jamie Gilstrap, and 12 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for both Allen and Betty at 11:00 A.M., December 16, at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
