Funeral Services for May (Mae) I Brander, age 94 of Lisbon will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith & Pastor Kathleen Hyde co-officiating. Burial will follow at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon. Services will be streamed on Facebook.
Calling hours will be held also on Thursday from 12:00 - 2:00pm at the funeral home. May, a beloved, faithful, and hard-working individual, passed away on November 17, 2024, at the Maplewood Nursing Home in Canton.
Born on May 31, 1930, to Bert E. and Lola (Leizert) Carr. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1948, and was later married to Darrel "Wendall" Brander on October 26, 1955.
Throughout life, May dedicated time to childcare, managing household duties, and assisting on the family farm.
May is survived by three daughters: Lola (Richard) DeRouchie of Lisbon, Laura (Scott) LaBarge of Lisbon, and Carol (Kenneth) Kozin of Clayton. Cherished grandchildren include Emily (Larry) Olmstead, Aaron DeRouchie, Michael LaBarge, and Heather (Libby) Washburn, along with two great-grandchildren, Tucker DeRouchie and Ruthie Washburn. May is also survived by sister-in-law Elsie Carr, nieces Debra Hubbard and Nora Janack and nephews Lewis Brander, Larry Brander and Dale Brander.
She was predeceased by her husband Wendall in 2006 and a brother Clarence Carr.
May enjoyed family time, attending church and American Legion Auxiliary conferences, solving crossword puzzles, traveling, reading, gardening, and canning. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the White Church.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Lisbon American Legion Auxiliary Post 1342, Lisbon Fire Department, or the First Congregational Church of Lisbon "White Church".
