Funeral Services for Katherine E. LaComb, age 94 of 311 Mansion Avenue in Ogdensburg will be held on Thursday (April 17, 2014) at 11:00am at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. A spring burial will be held on May 20, 2014 at 1:00pm at Notre Dame Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 1:00-4:00 & 6:00-9:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mrs. LaComb passed away at the Riverledge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on Friday (April 11, 2014) surrounded by her family.
Surviving are her children Mary Katherine “Connie” (James) Simpson of Carthage, Donald “Doc” (Linda) LaComb of Ogdensburg, Lawrence “Mike” (Mary) LaComb of Ogdensburg, Erle (Rona) LaComb Ogdensburg, Martha (George) Mordica of Leavenworth KS, Peter (Lee) LaComb of Jacksonville, FL, Jewel LaComb of Ogdensburg, Kevin (Sherrie) LaComb of Henderson NV, Denis LaComb of Ogdensburg, Brenda (Greg) Manke of Northridge CA, Bridget Koban & companion Stephen Fortune of Ogdensburg, Carmen Downing of Ogdensburg; a sister Mary “Joan” Seguin of Ogdensburg; daughter-in-laws Winsome LaComb & Connie Luscumbe-Mills along with 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Augustus LaComb II, a son Augustus “Gus” LaComb III, a sister Anna Frisina; seven brothers Henri, George, Arthur, Harold, Rev. Gerald, William & Peter Sharland; a son in-law Harold Michael Downing two grandchildren Benjamin LaComb and Taylor Simpson.
Katherine was born on January 16, 1920 in Malone NY, a daughter of the late Alex & Elzire (Morrissette) Sharland. She attended St. Peter’s School and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy. She married Augustus J. LaComb on February 8, 1941 at Notre Dame Church with Rev. Leon P. Legault officiating.
She was a member of Notre Dame Church and enjoyed bowling, traveling to visit family, knitting, crocheting, playing cards and being a vendor at the local flea markets for many years.
