Funeral services for June “June Bug” Hicks, age 88 formerly of Lisbon, will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday (April 11, 2017) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Burial will be held in the spring at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon.
Calling hours will be held on Monday (April 10th) from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Hicks passed away on Friday at the St. Joseph’s Home.
Surviving is her son David (Shirley) Hicks of Waterbury CT; two daughters Cheryl Hicks & her fiance’ Brian Lauber of Mt. Airy, NC and Cathy (Mark) Rusgrove of Lisbon; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald in 2011; two sisters Shirley Chapman and Irma Godfrey and three ½ brothers Lloyd, John & Glen Todd.
June was born on April 1, 1929 in Lisbon NY, a daughter of the late William & Lillian (Dillabough) Todd. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1946 and later married Donald C. Hicks on December 13, 1952.
During her career she worked at the Timex Corporation as a quality control inspector for 38 years, and retired in 1990. June was a member of the First Congregational Church of Lisbon and a member of the Ogdensburg Senior Citizens Group. She enjoyed gardening, her cat Peppie, cooking and spending time with her family.
Through June’s 11 year journey with Alzheimer’s, she remained her cheerful self. She may not have remembered your name, but she was always happy to have company at St. Joseph’s Home where she lived for the past 6 years.
