John R. Badlam age 80, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Health Hospital in Syracuse, NY. No services will be held at this time. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fox & Murray Funeral Home.
John was born May 24, 1944, in Ogdensburg, NY to the late Edward “Hi” and Marion (VanOrnum) Badlam. He attended St. Mary’s Academy and graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy, Class of 1962. In 1964, John married Patricia Meyer at Notre Dame Church.
Mr. Badlam dedicated 37 years to New York State. For 30 years, John worked at the St. Lawrence State Hospital, adding another 7 years as a Correctional Officer. John gave back to his community, serving a term as an Ogdensburg City Councilor. He was a talented drummer, playing with multiple groups, most notably the 4 Satins and Ed Kennedy Trio. John was instrumental in organizing the Boat Races in Ogdensburg, he was a proud member of the Ogdensburg Rescue Squad when they first opened their doors, a member of the Ogdensburgh- Acacian Freemasons Lodge 128, and enjoyed his time golfing.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia Badlam of Ogdensburg, NY; his sons, Anthony Badlam and his wife Barbara of Ogdensburg and Robert “Robb” Badlam and his companion Janice Strickland of Edison, N.J.; his grandchildren, Megan Matthews and her husband Bryan, Kyle Badlam and his wife Mackenzie, and Sara Badlam; and four grandchildren Bryce, Chloey, Payton, and Paisley Matthews.
He was predeceased by parents, Edward “Hi” and Marion Badlam, and his sister, Barbara Graham.
