Dorothy was born on February 8, 1930, in Waterford, NY, to the late Willard and Mary (Willetts) Holcomb. She graduated from Waterford Halfmoon High School and began her career in clerical work before marrying Robert W. Lauber on November 15, 1952. Together, they created a warm and loving home for their family, with Dorothy embracing her role as a devoted homemaker while Robert pursued a career in finance.
As her children grew, Dorothy found fulfillment in serving her community. She worked as a caregiver for local families, volunteered as a poll worker during elections, and held the position of Deputy Town Clerk in Waterford, NY.
Dorothy was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved to travel, always ready for a fun get together with family and friends, quilt, and immerse herself in various craft projects. An avid reader who introduced her children to the public library, she found joy in stories and delighted in sharing her love of literature with others. Dorothy was known to be an excellent cook with Beef Stroganoff being a specialty dish. She was an active member of the Waterford Study Club and the United Methodist Women, where she helped organize annual rummage sales. She could drive a hard bargain. Additionally, she took pride in her role as a Girl Scout Leader, guiding and inspiring young girls in her community.
Mrs. Lauber is survived by her son, Brian (Cheryl) Lauber of Virginia; her daughter, Karen Wright of Ogdensburg; a brother, William Holcomb of Gardenerville, NY; her grandchildren, Ellen (Joshua) Baublitz of Ulster, PA and Noah Wright of Lake Hill, NY; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, Robert W. Lauber on July 8, 2011, her son, Bob G. Lauber in 2006; a son in law, William Wright in 2018; and her grandson, Thomas Wright in 2020.
