Wesley Eugene Pitman

Wesley was born July 5, 1960, to Donald Lee Pitman and Gloria Elizabeth Pitman in Andrews, Texas. He attended school at Burleson Elementary, Bowie Junior High, and Odessa High School, graduating in 1978. Wesley took photography classes at Odessa College after high school graduation.

In August of 1979, Wesley started working in the press room at the Odessa American. He continued in this department until August of 1988 at which time he transferred to prepress where he worked until May of 2000. Wesley made many friends during his time at the Odessa American, many of whom were still friends today. Wesley helped with the care of his grandmother for several years and was the sole caregiver to his mother until her death in 2014. More recently Wesley was a Lyft driver and delivered groceries and prescriptions for HEB. Wesley had a gracious and generous heart. He enjoyed spending time with his family on holidays, birthdays and dinners throughout the week. Wesley was a kind soul, and he will be missed by his family and friends.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Dudley and Ava Pitman and Elmer and Eunice Wolf, uncles, Edward Pitman, Doyle Pitman, James Wolf, and Hayden Wolf, aunts Beatrice Livingston, Wanda Weaver, Juanita Wolf and Lucille Wolf, and cousins David Pitman, David Pitman Jr and Jeremiah Allen.

He is survived by cousins Donna Gentry and husband Ron, Gary Weaver and wife Brandy, Dennis Pitman and wife Tami, Meri Jo Pitman, Misti Smith and husband Boe, Jason Gentry and wife Jennifer, LaDona Ruiz and husband Adam, Justin Pitman and wife Ashley, Rachel Allen, Nicole Weaver, Austin Weaver, Abigail Gentry, Kamryn Ruiz, Brooklyn Ruiz, Josh Allen, Sarah Allen, Presli Smith, Gunner Smith, Brisyn Ruiz, Axel Ruiz, Maverick Ruiz and Zeke Sanchez.

Pallbearers are Boe Smith, Dennis Pitman, Justin Pitman, Jason Gentry, Adam Ruiz and Gunner Smith.

Visitation will be held December 19, 2024, from 4-8pm at Odessa Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held December 20, 2024, at 10:00am at Odessa Funeral Home with Mikhail Shakurov officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens
